Giving Back to Louisville
The Carpenter-Heesemann group is committed to supporting the communities in which we live and work by volunteering our time and using our resources. Our ongoing commitment to building relationships in the community and empowering associates to get involved is central to our culture at Baird and our team.
We've engaged with several outstanding organizations, some of which are listed below.
Make-A-Wish
Make-A-Wish is a nonprofit organization that grants wishes to children with critical illnesses, aiming to bring hope, strength, and joy during difficult times. Through these personalized experiences, it helps improve emotional well-being for the children and their families while creating lasting positive memories.
MEmorial Day Placement
Each Memorial Day, volunteers gather at Cave Hill Cemetery to place American flags on the graves of veterans, honoring their military service and sacrifice. This tradition serves as a visible tribute of remembrance and respect, bringing the community together to reflect on the cost of freedom.
Campus Outreach
Campus Outreach is a college ministry focused on reaching students with the message of the Gospel and helping them grow in their faith. Through Bible studies, mentoring, and community events, it aims to build strong Christian leaders who can impact their campuses and beyond.
Highview Baptist Church
Highview Baptist church has a strong emphasis on church planting by sending members to launch new churches and other Christian based projects. These projects take place in key urban and unreached cities across the U.S. with the goal of making disciples across the community,
Youth on Course
Youth on Course is a nonprofit organization that provides young people with affordable access to golf by offering rounds for $5 or less at participating courses. Beyond affordability, it also supports youth development through caddie programs, college scholarships, and opportunities to pursue careers in the golf industry.
Kids center for pediactric therapies
Kids Center for Pediatric Therapies is a nonprofit organization that provides multidisciplinary therapy services ncluding physical, occupational, and speech therapy to children with special needs. Their mission is to empower children and families by helping each child reach their full potential through compassionate care and individualized treatment plans.
American Cancer Society
The American Cancer Society supports children with cancer through programs that provide emotional care, resources, and access to treatment support for both patients and their families. These initiatives help ease the challenges of cancer by offering services like lodging assistance, transportation to treatment, and community-based support systems.
Charlie's Kids
Charlie’s Kids Foundation is a nonprofit organization dedicated to preventing sudden unexpected infant death (SUID) through safe sleep education rooted in evidence-based practices. The foundation promotes simple messages like “Back to Sleep” and equips families with resources to create safe sleep environments for infants.
Baptist Health Foundation
The Baptist Health Foundation is the charitable arm of Baptist Health, supporting hospitals and healthcare programs across Kentucky and Southern Indiana through philanthropy, partnerships, and community giving. Donations help fund advanced medical technology, patient care programs, staff education, facility improvements, and other initiatives that strengthen Baptist Health’s mission of improving community health and providing compassionate care.
Third Avenue Baptist Church
Third Avenue Baptist Church is a historic Baptist congregation in Louisville, Kentucky, committed to worship, biblical teaching, discipleship, and helping people grow in their faith through a Christ-centered community. The church serves individuals and families through regular worship services, Sunday school, children's and youth ministries, and outreach focused on teaching the Bible and making disciples.
Clifton Baptist Church
Clifton Baptist Church is a Louisville, Kentucky congregation whose mission is to proclaim Jesus Christ so that people are transformed and God is exalted. The Nature Conservancy (TNC) is a global environmental nonprofit dedicated to conserving the lands and waters on which all life depends, using science, collaboration, and practical conservation strategies to protect natural resources.
Colorado State University Foundation
The Colorado State University Foundation is the philanthropic partner of Colorado State University, dedicated to receiving, managing, and investing charitable gifts that support students, faculty, research, and educational programs. By maximizing the long-term impact of donor contributions, the Foundation helps advance CSU’s mission and creates lasting opportunities for future generations of Rams.
Kentucky Humane Society
The Kentucky Humane Society is Kentucky’s largest pet adoption and animal welfare organization, dedicated to championing companion animals and the people who love them through leadership, education, and proactive solutions. Based in Louisville, KHS works to find loving homes for pets, provide affordable veterinary services, and create more compassionate communities where every animal has the care and lifelong home they deserve. Doctors Without Borders
Doctors Without Borders (Médecins Sans Frontières) is an international humanitarian organization that provides urgently needed medical care to people affected by conflict, disease outbreaks, natural disasters, and other crises, regardless of race, religion, or political affiliation. Operating in more than 70 countries, the organization delivers independent and impartial medical assistance to vulnerable populations while advocating for access to healthcare and raising awareness of humanitarian emergencies.
Wounded Warrior Project
Wounded Warrior Project provides life-changing programs and services for wounded veterans and their families, including mental health support, benefits assistance, and career resources. Through advocacy, community engagement, and comprehensive wellness programs, the organization works to ensure veterans receive the support they need to lead fulfilling lives.
Ocean Conservancy
Ocean Conservancy is a nonprofit organization dedicated to protecting the world’s oceans through science-based solutions, policy advocacy, and community action. The organization works to combat plastic pollution, protect marine ecosystems, and promote a healthy ocean for future generations.
Team RWB
Team Red, White & Blue (Team RWB) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to enriching veterans’ lives by
building community through physical fitness, social connection, and wellness programs. Through local events, leadership opportunities, and health-focused initiatives, Team RWB helps veterans stay connected, healthy, and engaged in civilian life.
Catholic Charities of Houston
Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston provides compassionate services and support to individuals and families in need, regardless of faith, helping them achieve self-sufficiency and live with dignity. Through programs focused on food, housing, counseling, family services, and social justice advocacy, the organization brings hope and assistance to vulnerable communities across the Houston area.
Reaching and Teaching
Reaching & Teaching International Ministries is a Louisville-based Christian nonprofit that advances the Gospel by making mature disciples, establishing healthy churches, and training local leaders around the world through missionary partnerships, theological training, and church-based missions programs. Since 2009, the organization has worked globally to equip pastors and strengthen local churches, with a focus on sustainable leadership development and discipleship.
Shepherd's Staff
Shepherd’s Staff is a nonprofit organization that helps churches send and support missionaries around the world by providing administrative, financial, and member-care services. By handling tasks such as donations, payroll, benefits, and compliance, it allows missionaries and churches to focus on ministry and sharing their faith globally.
Baird Gives Back
Many Baird associates team up during Baird Gives Back Week, an event held annually in the spring, to serve local community organizations that are in need of help. In 2024, associates donated nearly 6,500 volunteer hours to help support non-profit organizations and individuals across the firm’s global footprint.
